MIT is closely cooperating with government agencies involved in container and cargo clearance. Customs and Quarantine both have their offices on terminal and are connected to the MIT Mainsail system to register clearance online.

MIT is certified by the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) as a phyto-zoosanitary zone. This certification allows MIT to handle sensitive cargoes, such as coffee, cowhides and any other agricultural products.
